True Meaning of the First House in Astrology
This session explores the true meaning of the First House and Ascendant as the point where spirit steps into form. The Ascendant represents moment of incarnation that sets the entire chart into motion.
We’ll examine the Ascendant as the eastern horizon, the rising point where earth meets sky, and the lens through which we first perceive life itself. From our own birth, instinctive responses, physical appearance, temperament and the atmosphere of early environment, the First House reveals both how we emerge into the world and what we naturally evoke in others.
We’ll discuss its role as the Helm of the chart, defining all other houses, and its liminal nature as the joy of Mercury, mediating body and mind, instinct and intention, self and world.
My intention is for this course to teach you how the sign on the Ascendant shapes one’s fundamental approach to life, how planets in the First amplify, complicate, or color this approach, and how conscious engagement with these energies can transform habitual patterns into intentional self-expression.
We’ll also explore the First House’s relationship to the Sun and Moon, understanding the Ascendant as the vehicle through which the solar purpose is expressed and the means by which we create conditions for lunar fulfillment.
This session frames the First House not as the essential interface between the incarnate self and the world – a dynamic process of emergence, perception and ongoing initiation.
Format: Video, available via streaming or MP4
Style: Recorded Powerpoint Presentation
Length: 1 hour 57 minutes
Access: Document containing links to the video via YouTube and Google Drive, video downloadable via Google Drive
